Upper Hutt Santa Parade - 1 December 2007
The Unit were proud to again be associated with the Upper Hutt Santa Parade, held down the Main Street of Upper Hutt on a brilliant Saturday afternoon. HVFP manned and controlled the major road closures and provided general crowd and traffic management assistance for a fun-filled event.

Trentham Fireworks Fantastic - Upper Hutt - 27 October 2007
Hutt Valley Fire Police, together with the Upper Hutt Rural Fire Force, provided assistance to the Upper Hutt Rotary and the local community at Upper Hutt City's main fireworks event this year.
The Unit, together with Upper Hutt Rural Fire, have a well established relationship with the organising team and the event is a fun way to keep up the profile of both establishments. RIMU4926's towed lighting plant assisted at the main entrance, and Upper Hutt Rural Fire's command unit (9480) was our base of operations.
Upper Hutt Volunteers with TREN481 were also in attendance.
Fire Police and the Rural Fire Force provided security, some parking and other general crowd control and public liason assistance to the organisers and attendees of a well attended, well executed stage show and fireworks display.

Hamilton Bowls - 2 October 2007
HVFP hosted the Hamilton Bowls at Whakatiki Bowling Club in Upper Hutt. 8 teams were entered by various brigades involved in the Hutt-Wellington-Kapiti UFBA Sub Association. The 'Past Presidents' were the winners on the night, with runners up from Wainuiomata A good night had by all, with much fun and camaraderie.

Annual General Meeting 2007 - 1 October 2007
The Annual General Meeting of the Hutt Valley Fire Police Unit was held on 1 October at Upper Hutt Police Station.
Congratulations are extended to FP Bruce Key and FP Steve Wilkinson who were upgraded from Probationary to Full members and sworn as Fire Police by Hilda Billington, JP.
The evening was finished off with supper and a callout to a house fire in Taita - which we were stood down from whilst enroute.

NZFS National Rugby Tournament - 7-8 September 2007
Members of HVFP assisted with the security of this facility on the Friday night of the event. RIMU4928 was also utilised by those involved in the event. Our contribution to this national competition was recognised by those involved and it was by all accounts a successful weekend. A competitor for the Rugby World Cup, we're sure!

Upper Hutt Spring Festival - 1 September 2007
Members were asked to assist with the Fire Service display at the Upper Hutt Spring Festival. This was a combination PR exercise and security task, with much display material in the form of both photos, and appliances to be looked after for the duration of the event. HVFP assisted Upper Hutt Volly's and the career crews from Rimutaka and Trentham in attendance.

Inter-Unit Training (Operation Warlord) - 13 August 2007
A lighting and support exercise (Operation Warlord) was held at the Jugford Golf Club (SH58 between Pauatahanui and the Hutt Valley) to further develop relationships with neighbouring Fire Police and Operational Support Units.
The scenario was that the building had collapsed and the two responding units Hutt Valley Fire Police responding Rimutaka 4926 and 4928 and Paraparaumu Fire Police were tasked to provide 360 degree lighting coverage of the area, to enable rescue workers to complete their rescue task during the hours of darkness.
On arrival PARA3729 was tasked with providing lighting to the western and southern sides of the building and once this was established to set up a command and control point for radio traffic and units accessing the area of operation.
RIMU4926 was tasked with providing lighting to the eastern and southern sides of the building. RIMU4928 was tasked with providing lighting to the northern side of the building. Once both 4926 and 4928 had established their lighting they were then tasked to secure the area and set up a refreshments area to support the exercise.
Once all tasks were established each unit briefed the other unit on their vehicles and the equipment they carry, and on completion of the briefings joined for a well earned tea and biscuit.
The exercise successfully exercised and verified our interoperability and respective capabilities, and helped further establish rapport between the Hutt Valley Fire Police and Paraparamu Fire Police Units.

Lower Hutt Fire Stations Open Day - 14 July 2007
With recent changes in the Hutt District, and the crews having had time to settle into their new Stations, it was time to open them to the public. Seaview, Hutt City and Avalon Fire Stations were hosts for an 'open day' today, with trucks and equipment on display as well as fire safety demonstrations (and the odd couple of real turnouts just to keep visitors on their toes!).
Hutt Valley Fire Police were asked to assist at these open days, as a PR exercise and also to provide security for the station in the event of a turnout. This turned out to be a good thing for the career crews - but also was an excellent opportunity to get in some PR on the units part.

Wellington International Airport - Crash Fire and Lifeflight (Westpac Rescue Helicopter)
For our June major training event HVFP paid a visit to Wellington International Airport. We were first treated to a familiarisation and briefing on the operations of Westpac Rescue Helicopter followed by familiarisation at Wellington Crash Fire. Our thanks to the guys at both Lifeflight and Wellington International Airport Fire Brigade for the opportunity.

Gold Star Association (Wellington) Conference
Hutt Valley Fire Police Unit were very pleased to host the Gold Star conference in Trentham during the period 27-28 April. As the hosts, HVFP provided the Food, Drinks and Entertainment (in the form of the Rugby!) on the Friday, along with a timetable of events for the Saturday including a tour of the SPEL workshops at Trentham Army Camp (where new NZDF and NZFS Fire Appliances were inspected) and a special presentation by members of the NZ Defence Force on areas of interest to Current and former Fire Service Volunteers.

House Burn - SH2 Upper Hutt - 4 March 2007
The Unit were asked to assist the career staff from Rimutaka and Trentham, as well as the Upper Hutt Volunteers based at Trentham Station, with a house burn on SH2 north of Upper Hutt City. The house, a condemned property, was to be burnt down as a training exercise for the firefighters, and the Fire Police were requested to assist with traffic control, scene safety and refreshments. After a delay (caused by a real fire) the burn continued without incident.

Petone Fair - 18 February 2007
The Unit provided assistance (primarily with road closures) at the popular Petone Fair. This event involves the closure of Jackson St (the main shopping area of Petone) where stalls are set up along the centre and edge of the road, featuring all manner of goods and foodstuffs.
