Fire Police are volunteers in the Fire Service afforded special powers under legislation.
This section of our site talks about the concept of Fire Police in a general sense.
Areas covered include:
History - History of the Fire Police.
Legal Powers - How Fire Police exist in Legislation and what rights they are afforded under the law.
Role - The role of the Fire Police (and Operational Support) in todays Fire Service.
It should be noted that Operational Support personnel fill a very similar role to Fire Police, although they lack the same Legal Powers they retain all the legal powers of a Firefighter as defined in Section 28 of the Fire Service Act.
