Exercise TUNNEL - Multi Agency Exercise - Sunday 25 May 2008

New Zealand Fire Service, along with NZ Police, Wellington Free Ambulance, Hutt Valley Rescue, Lower Hutt City Council Civil Defence, Toll Rail, and Upper Hutt Community Rescue were involved with 'Exercise Tunnel' conducted at the Rimutaka Rail Tunnel, Maymourn Upper Hutt on Sun 25 May 08.

Training with Wellington Operational Fire Support Unit

Hutt Valley Fire Police and the Wellington Operational Fire Support Unit got together on Monday 21 April at Kilbernie Fire Station to exchange ideas and generally become familiar with each others operations, in a spirit of common ground and cooperation. With similar and yet complementary skillsets, Wellington Fire Support and Hutt Valley Fire Police Unit have had occasion to work together and support eachother, and it is therefore a good idea to meet and train together from time to time. This gives us an opportunity to get to know the capabilities of our respective Units and help build those relationships which become so useful when we are working together at an incident.

CISM Training

Both HVFP Unit & Trentham Volunteer Firefighters from Upper Hutt Volunteer Fire Brigade attended a combined Drill on Monday evening (7 Apr 08) held at the Messines Army Centre Conference Centre, Trentham.

A total of 38 personnel were in attendance.

Spt FF Mike Aamodt (Trentham) briefly addressed the meeting and handed over to guest speaker Father Peter Roe S.M., Chaplain, Mentor & CISM Peer Supporter from the Arapawa Fire Region.
