Flooding on State Highway 2
Rimutaka 4928 and 4926 responded from the Fire Service training centre at Kilburnie where the unit was attending a First Aid Course, to provide traffic control to divert north bound traffic from flooding on State Highway 2. The crews set up a road block at the Melling intersection in Lower Hutt and took turns at points duty which at times had to be done in tandem due to the size and high traffic density at the intersection. Salvage equipment was also used to clear some debris from the road caused by flooding. After making up the equipment and vehicles, members were able to resume their First Aid Training
