The Annual General Meeting of the Hutt Valley Fire Police Unit was held on 31 August 2009 at the Stokes Valley RSA. Highlights include:

• Noted for the record that the Unit attended 30 Calls for the year.
  
• John Scott and Wayne Bedford were confirmed as full members of the Unit. John was sworn as a Fire Police Constable by Bruce Key JP; Wayne was an apology and will be sworn at the first suitable opportunity. Congratulations to you both and welcome to the Unit.
  
• Guests included Area Manager (the position formerly known as Chief Fire Officer for career staff) Peter Bean and Regional Manager Ian Pickard, and both briefly addressed the Unit, congratulating it on its efforts in the previous 12 months and offering some insights into coming developments in the Fire District.
  
• Area Manager Peter Bean also presented the Unit Awards as follows:
  
  • Training Attendance Award: FP Key
    
  • Callout Attendance Award: FP Roberts & FP English
    
  • Fire Police Person of the Year: FP Key
    
  • Goof of the Year Award: SSO Ackroyd
    
  
  
• Fire Region Manager Pickard presented FP Vlieg with her 3 Year Certificate, and SO Lock with a Silver Bar for his Long Service Medal, as they were absent from the Unit Honours Night earlier this year.

• Officer Appointments were made:
  
  FP Morton was appointed Unit Welfare Representative, and also the Members Representative to the Leadership Team.
  
  • FP's Key, Roberts and Brooks were all appointed as Health & Safety representatives, agreeing to share the role.
    
  • Unit Social Committee: SFP Robinson, FP Chambers, FP English, FP Wilkinson, S Pikering.
    
  • The Unit Patron, Mike Aamodt, was appointed as Auditor of the Unit Finances.
    
  • All other Officers retained their previous roles.
    
  
  
• On conclusion of the meeting a supper was served and a Unit Photograph was taken. Thanks to Lou Robinson for preparing the supper and to the Stokes Valley RSA for hosting our evenings events.
  

FP John Scott is sworn as a Constable by Bruce Key (in his capacity as a Justice of the Peace).

FP Bruce Key is presented with the Cup for Fire Police Person of the Year by Area Manager Peter Bean.

SSO David Ackroyd is presented with the 'Flushie' award for the Biggest Goof of the year. You'll have to ask him for the details behind it. :-)

FP Ingrid Vlieg receives her 3 Years Service Certificate from Fire Region Manager Ian Pickard.

SO Mike Lock receives Silver Bars to his Long Service Medal, accounting for his 11 Years service, from Fire Region Manager Ian Pickard.
